How can I share links to library resources?
Answer
Sharing stable links, rather than the URLs found in the browser bar, ensure that students are consistently directed to the correct resources without the risk of the URL breaking.
See the images below for more details.
EBSCO Databases
CUE Library licenses many databases from EBSCO. Academic Search Ultimate, ERIC, MLA International Bibliography, and APA PsycInfo are some of the most popular EBSCO databases, but the library has many others as well. In all EBSCO databases you will find the permalink on the right-hand side of the abstract page.
Click on the three dots and select Share. Click Create link and a permalink will appear. Copy and paste this link into your email, document, Moodle, etc.
ACM Digital Library
Within the ACM Digital Library database, the article's stable digital object identifier (DOI) is found between the title and abstract.
Canadian Periodical Index & Gale Primary Sources
To access permalinks on the Canadian Periodical Index and Gale Primary Sources databases, select Get Link at the top right-hand side of the article. A new box will then appear with the permalink that you can copy and past into your email, document, Moodle, etc.
Films on Demand
To share a single video from Films on Demand, find the permalink by clicking Share under the video. Click on Embed/Link and copy the Record URL.
JSTOR
On the JSTOR database, once you have selected an article you can find the DOI or permalink on the left-hand side of the page under the item details.
Kanopy
To share a Kanopy video, you will find the permalink under Share just below the video's title. Once you click Share, a box with the permalink will appear.
O'Reilly for Higher Education
O'Reilly does not have the option of a permalink for sharing. Do not use the link found in the browser bar, as it will ask you to pay for access to the resource.
Instead, copy the title of the item and search for it in the CUE Library catalogue and share the resource's catalogue permalink.
ProQuest Ebook Central
After selecting an ebook in ProQuest Ebook Central, click on Share Link to Book on the left-hand side of the screen. A small window will open with a permalink.
NOTE: You may be required to create a ProQuest account to share items.
PubMed
On the PubMed database, you will find the DOI below the title of your selected article.
ScienceDirect & Scopus
The DOIs on ScienceDirect and Scopus can be found below the title and authors of a selected article.
Taylor & Francis Journals
In the Taylor & Francis Journals database, you will find the DOI below the journal title.
